Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to assess post-operative or dental achievements of Erbium Laser assisted procedures in comparison to conventional technique of apicoectomy. Subjects and Methods: A total of twenty enrolled cases were assessed for eligibility being healthy, but with chronic periapical lesions (average diameter: 5±2mm) related to the maxillary anterior teeth and aged 20-50 years old, with no sex predilection. Cases were allocated evenly into two groups (n=10): Group A: conventional apical surgery with no Laser Application and Group B: Erbium Laser assisted apical surgery. Results: Most of Clinical examined parameters were lower in the laser-treated group at 24h and 1week after surgery, while after 3 months, both groups didn’t show any signs of acute inflammation such as redness, swelling, pain, and all cases exhibited criteria for successful outcome. Conclusion: Erbium Laser application could improve healing following periapical surgery.
