Abstract

PURPOSE: This study aimed to evaluate correction of lower anterior crowded teeth among patients were given orthodontic treatment with fixed appliances in comparison to clear aligner therapy along with their impact on periodontal health. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Twenty adult females with mild to moderate lower anterior crowding were split up into 2 groups. Group I; 10 patients received clear aligner therapy using Zendura Flx TM Materials, and group II; 10 patients received a fixed orthodontic appliance. Little irregularity index was measured at initial treatment (T1) and after treatment (T2), plaque index (PI), pocket depth (PD), as well as bleeding on probing (BoP). The periodontal indexes were measured at T1, after one, two, three, four weeks, and after treatment. RESULTS: There was no statistically substantial difference between the two groups according to the little irregularity index. The two groups differed significantly in PI and BOP, and overall findings pointed out that the clear aligners provided improved periodontal health control. CONCLUSIONS: Lower anterior crowding could be effectively treated with clear aligners along with fixed appliances, although periodontal health was better off with clear aligners.
